Ten dev log for Production

What's been happening this week?

This week I have been working on adding the Sofa, TV setup and scaling the room correctly!

The first thing i decided to do this week was work on making my sofa so I could get a feel of the rooms size and change it depending on the needs.

The sofa I have made is quite simple but complex in other places, the creation of this was going smoothly until I started to bevel the edges which I regret doing deeply. The amount of time I had to spend cleaning up engons between each cushion was so time consuming and painful that I will not be doing that again. A better way of doing it would have just making a loop cut and smoothing it, giving the same effect if bevel.

This allowed me to then see the issue with the room an able to add more space with this in place. I what quite a bit off from where I need to be for the size and this was only for the main room I haven't scaled any of the other rooms but just from this I
can see that its something I do need to do later on when I start placing objects in the others rooms.

This gave no issues to do because of how substance painter works, I didn't change the height of any walls on the shape of the floor allowing me to just drag and drop it in and it fixed any errors that had been made in the move.

I then started to get to work on the TV rack which I though looked good at the time but after getting feed back from the presentation today, it does look a bit "bland" and "square" So I will be changing this in the future to allow for a better look. They way I have done this is making all the wood planks have the same UV making the texturing prosses easy and simple, if I was to do it again I would look at it from a more creative way and make it look better from the start.
This was the final image i showed in the presentation

I had added the speakers, books, candles and windows. I got some really useful feedback and idea. The candles being on the sofa like they are is very unrealistic and a safety hazard, so that has to change. The windows are very boring and it could wrap around the door for a better look having one big window rather then what is there now. The candles at the top looked to symmetrical and stood out to much. I will change this when I have more shelf items made. Over all the presentation went really well. i got great feed back and am able to push forward and improve with my work.

Sprint 1

This sprint went really well, I accomplished a lot in these two weeks and have been able to show a good amount of progress. Having this system allows me to see what needs to be done, but also what I have finished and can stop looking at, once its completed that's it and I don't have to worry about it until the finalizing phase at the end.

Thoughts on progress

I think this whole 2 week sprint has been a great showing of what i can do in a small amount of time when i put my head into it. being able to create all of this in such a short amount of time is amazing. Would i change anything i have done? yes! definitely the sofa was such a pain to clean after bevelling and the room not being the right size from the beginning is very annoying but something to learn from.

Next Work Session

Next week i want to work on getting the kitchen built this being the firepit, counters. as well as the bed area and garage podium.
